The global change that the planet is experiencing, affects the mechanisms that have allowed maintaining optimum conditions for the development of life. The main current challenges involve the maintenance of these conditions: climatic stability, sustainability of eco-systemic networks that provide essential services (air cleaning, water purification, soil stability, among others).
Anthropic changes deeply transform natural systems. Therefore, technology must incorporate criteria that regenerate and reinforce the optimal conditions of the biosphere. What technologies make the planetary sustainability possible? Can technology curb climate change? What criteria must be considered when developing technological innovation?
The guest speaker on this occasion will be Kirsten Dunlop, executive director of Climate-KIC (Utrecht).
The conference will be chaired by Lorenzo Chelleri, director of the International Master's Degree "City Resilience Design and Management", senior researcher at the International University of Catalonia (UIC) and chairing the Urban Resilience Research Network (URnet). He is also part of the UN group for the creation of the International Urban Resilience Institute (URI).
The conference will be in English and there will be simultaneous translation into Catalan.
